Do you see what I see?

Yesterday, I was talking to a friend of mine who had asked me to check out the Mormon site setup for gay and lesbians. He wanted to know my opinion regarding the content of the site. The first thing that struck me was the underlying premise; it was okay to be gay and a member of the church as long as one doesn't act on their feelings as if it was choice to be made one way or the other. It is not a choice. Quite honestly, no one would choose to be an outsider. We are brought up with the notion that to belong is the way to be. Belong meaning everybody thinks and acts the same. But here's the truth, no one person is the same. We are all different and we deserve and are worthy of being treated as the people we are not as the people someone wants us to be.

I have struggled for many years with that very notion. I wanted to fit in, but I knew I was different. Today, I love that I am different that I am not like everyone else. I love being a woman. I love being a lesbian. I love being a divine spirit. I love having a connection to source (God, the Universe, a Higher-Being). There are so many people out there who struggle everyday with trying to fit it. Well, I say, forget about that. Be yourself and let your light shine through. You are a beautiful spirit shining brightly in this world. If you don't believe me just ask me. My job is to see you as you truly are just as I see myself as I truly am.
